We got an error message when downloading updates for Spybot Search & Destroy. Regarding the file, C:\ProgramsFile\Spybot-Search & Destroy\advcheck.dll. The existing file is marked as read only. The options were to: Click Retry to remove the read only attribute and Retry.
I found that if you ignored this warning and just allow the download to complete the problem it went away. When I went back to look at the download box, all files had been downloaded and then I checked the version level by clicking on Help and About.
You should see Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.2.46, Latest detection update: 9/9/2009.
